Come view a colorful display of the metamorphosis, the four stages of the monarch butterfly life cycle, and make a pipe-cleaner caterpillar! Selection of butterfly merch, info on planting milkweed, lists of host and nectar plants for monarch butterflies and pollinator gardens as well as FREE milkweed seeds will be available!


Carversville Monarch Journey Program

Carversville Secret Garden, Pennsylvania

The kids came to the Secret Garden at Carversville for a field walk to look for butterflies and to do butterfly art and craft projects.  The highlight of the activities was the release of several monarch butterflies that they had been observing for a month, watching the life cycle from egg to adult butterfly.

View live caterpillars – possible butterfly release (weather dependent)*.
We will start in the garden, then go for a walk in the field to identify two kinds of milkweed; look for caterpillars and butterflies; identity nectar plants and finish with an arts and craft activity.

Children accompanied by an adult required
$8.00 - adult includes one child (age 4 or older)  $3.00 - each additional child
Children ages 1 – 3 Free

Pre-registration required.  Ask for the Sign-up sheet at register.

Rain Date: Saturday August 28th., 2010 - Same time

Please dress for walking in the field, sneakers or boots, hat if sunny.
Bring water to drink. Binoculars are handy.

* A butterfly fly will not fly before its time. If I have butterflies whose wings are dry and its is warm and sunny, we will release.
